Overview

The Witch's Dream is a private, local-first dream journal. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Dream content you create, such as text, tags, emotions, photos, audio notes, drawings, and generated images.
  • Device and account identifiers, including a randomly generated device ID and optional Sign in with Apple ID.
  • Purchase data, including product IDs and transaction IDs used to grant credits or premium access.
  • Optional permissions: location for weather correlation, Health sleep data for smart reminders, and notification settings.
  • AI inputs, including dream text or prompts you choose to send for interpretation or image generation.

How we use information

  • Provide core journaling features and organize your content.
  • Enable optional features like weather correlation, smart reminders, or iCloud sync.
  • Process AI requests and return interpretations, images, or insights.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and support purchases.

Where your data is stored

  • Local-first: your journal is stored on device by default.
  • Optional iCloud sync stores data in your iCloud account if you enable it.
  • AI requests are transmitted over HTTPS to our backend or directly to your AI provider when you use BYOK (bring your own key).

Sharing and third parties

  • Apple services handle Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, iCloud sync, WeatherKit, and HealthKit.
  • OpenAI or other AI providers process AI requests when you use AI features. If you use BYOK, requests go directly from your device to the provider.
  • We do not sell your data or use third-party ad networks.

Data retention

Your journal data remains on your device or in iCloud until you delete it. AI requests may be processed and temporarily retained for troubleshooting or abuse prevention, then deleted according to provider policies.

Security

We use Apple platform security, Keychain for sensitive identifiers, and HTTPS for network traffic. No system is perfectly secure, but we aim to protect your data.

Your choices

  • Use Local-only mode to keep data on device.
  • Enable or disable iCloud sync at any time.
  • Revoke location or Health permissions in iOS settings.
  • Delete your data by removing entries or uninstalling the app.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will update the effective date and publish changes on this page.
